Farm to Table Fridays continue with 3 days of specials for Father’s Day!
Starting Friday, June 16th, our neighbors at Dirt Farm Brewery will be pouring some of their signature craft brews right here at Bluemont Vineyard!
Stop in for some ‘Straw Golden Ale’ and ‘Awe Dang Citrus IPA’ — and get the backstory on how the brewery was born…
“I think it will be a blast, just to meet new people, and see what wine people really think about beer,” says Dirt Farm Brewmaster, Nick Zurschmeide.
The weekend kicks off on Friday with Beer Bacon Pancakes, made with Dirt Farm’s Milk Stout — one of many specialty beers creatively crafted on DFB’s 100 acres.
Without giving away too many proprietary secrets, Nick offered some insight into the art of craft brewing: a masterful mashup of specific grains, hops, yeast, and fruit that’s fermented, carbonated, and kegged for your enjoyment!
“My favorite is the ‘Red Merl’…the more I drink that Merl, the more I like it,” adds Nick. The Red Merl is an Irish Red Ale named for one of the family dogs, sweet-yet-ornery old Merl — and a 2016 VCBC Gold Medal Winner!
Other seasonally-rotated brews include ‘Som Peach’, which is aged in bourbon barrels, the upcoming ‘Purple Drink’ made with Norton grape pressings (and apparently very purple!), and some future sours are in the mix…
Come check out their brews here at “BREWmont” this weekend! On Saturday and Sunday, you can also enjoy a rack of BBQ Ribs with a glass of our Chambourcin Rosé or pint of DFB Brew. The beer bacon pancakes are back for Sunday brunch, from 11:00am-2:00pm.
